Unlike most gynecology offices, we specialize in minimally invasive gynecological laparoscopic and robotic surgery, which avoids a large abdominal incision by using a tiny telescope-like instrument inserted through the belly button. Conditions such as severe and extensive endometriosis involving the bowel, bladder, ureter, cul-de-sac, tube and ovary, female organ prolapse involving a dropping, bulging, or sagging vagina, uterus, bladder, or rectum, and urinary stress incontinence (urine leakage) can be treated successfully with less pain, fewer complications, and quicker recovery than traditional surgery.

The Director of the Center, Dr. C. Y. Liu, is world-renowned as a pioneer and leader in the field of advanced gynecological endoscopic surgery. In addition to his specialization in the above procedures, he has developed several laparoscopic surgical procedures including laparoscopic bladder neck suspension and suburethral sling procedure for the treatment of urinary incontinence, laparoscopic paravaginal repair (bladder tack) for cystocele (bladder bulging into vagina), laparoscopic repair of enterocele (small bowel bulging into the vagina), and vaginal vault suspension for vaginal and uterine prolapse (vaginal bulging and dropping of uterus and cervix).

Dr. Liu, the director of the training program and one of the most experienced laparoscopic surgeons in the world, specializes in laparoscopic treatment of female organ prolapse, severe endometriosis, and urinary incontinence. He has published his techniques as well as the results of one of the largest series of laparoscopic hysterectomies in the world performed by a single surgeon. He is the most sought-after surgeon for performing live case demonstrations at major national and international conferences, with more than 40 lectureships and live surgeries in such venues. Thousands of gynecological surgeons in the United States as well as around the world, including leaders at major medical centers, have been trained by him. Dr. Liu currently serves as secretary-treasurer of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and will hold the post of president-elect of the organization next year.
